All students are allocated to a tutor group. The group develops a supportive environment within which each member will flourish in terms of their academic, social, spiritual and moral development.
The group meets each day for a tutorial session. During this time their tutor works to sort out problems that students may face and involve the group in reflecting on their daily experiences. Attendance and punctuality are closely monitored.
The Tutor works closely with parents to provide guidance and support. Parents are invited to attend a Progress Review Evening three times a year to keep up to date with a student’s achievement.
At Key Stage Three the Tutor will also be the main class teacher for Opening Minds lessons and will be able to build up a very detailed knowledge of each individual student.
Tutors work in three teams, one for Key Stage Three, one for Key Stage Four and one for Post 16. Each team is supported by a Learning Support Case Worker and a Key Stage Learning Support Co-coordinator. They work directly with students and their families where special levels of support are required to ensure that an individual student makes good progress. |
