At Whitley Abbey School we remove all barriers to learning in order that all students can thrive and be the best that they can be. For most students this work takes place within the day to day activities in classrooms. Teachers will plan for individual student needs and differentiate work accordingly.
Some students will require additional support as their needs demand more intensive and detailed work. The work that we do for such students is coordinated by the following key teams.
The Special Educational Needs Manager and Teaching Assistants work to ensure that all students with specific learning needs have intervention programmes, additional support within classrooms and external agency support as needed. This is brought together in a Learning Support Plan, constructed in partnership with the student and parents.
The Inclusion team work to ensure that all students with emotional and behavioural needs have intervention programmes in place to intervene and improve behaviour and emotional well being. Learning Support Plans are constructed with both students and their parents. The aim is to ensure that each student involved can take self responsibility for their conduct and work well in their classes. |
