The school is very proud that we are achieving excellent continual improvement in our GCSE results and that the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust is recognizing this achievement.
"We are delighted to inform you that following the visit from the visit from our Consultant Headteacher on 8th February 2010 your school has been accredited as an Advanced Level Consultant School for the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust. This award is in recognition of the importance of the work that Whitley Abbey Business and Enterprise College has carried out in support of colleagues in other schools."
After a recent assessment process for the specialist schools and academies trust (SSAT) we are delighted to receive “Advanced Level Consultant School Status”. This reflects the capacity to support other schools on their journey to improve and our excellent track record of support at all levels of leadership. It also means that Whitley Abbey can obtain funding in order to release staff to support other schools.
This is an excellent recognition of the expertise and experience of the staff at Whitley Abbey and their ability to support other schools to achieve excellence.
Mrs Allen (Headteacher) and Mrs Elton (Inclusion Director) attended an International iNet Conference held in Cape Town, South Africa in February 2010.
The aim of the conference was to bring together Educational Leaders from across the world to share good practice and develop ideas to help the Equity and Excellence agenda. This means helping the weaker, the poorer and the more deprived to achieve excellence:- Excellence for all no matter their background or lack of resource.
Life is not fair in that many children are born into extreme poverty and have lives that are unsafe, scary and sometimes no food or shelter. These children need the same opportunities, hopes and dreams of other children.
Schools and teachers/staff need to give children hope and keep their dreams.
The conference brought many international leaders, politicians, professors and educationalist together to pool their energies, ideas and support for this agenda.
Teaching methods, the use of sport, resources and technology were all part of the "iNet Charter for Action, paving the way for the future".
The conference was excellent, challenging anf very political. Children in South Africa to learn, engage, appreciate the lives and problems of others and share views, thoughts and exciting opportunities - the Global Citizenship.
Our school link is with New Orleans High School, Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa.
