 Behaviour for Learning

The School requires all students to behave in such a way that everyone can learn. All lessons have clear objectives and students are expected to cooperate and rise to the challenges that the lesson presents.

Behaviour for LearningStaff expect students to mange their conduct appropriately at all other times in the day. The School is a large community where we need to have clear expectations and a shared understanding of the need to cooperate with each other. Our expectations are made explicit through daily conversations, routine activities and displays around the school.

We have a clear Behaviour for Learning Code which sets out what our expectations are. All students receive a detailed induction into what it means for them on a day to day basis.

When a student does not meet the expectations, they are given a clear set of warnings. Each warning comes with a clear teacher response. Initially students are asked to consider their behaviour and the impact it is having on themselves or others. After two clear warnings, a 30 minute break time detention is issued. A student who receives the highest level of warning will be removed from the room by a senior member of staff.

If a student receives a number of detentions, parents will be invited into school to form a Learning Support Plan. If a student is removed from a lesson, parents will be invited in. This may be after a Fixed Term Exclusion.
