Business and Enterprise Status has created an opportunity for Whitley Abbey to work with local people to raise enterprise skills within the local area. We are proud to be associated with the WEET (WIllenhall Education, Employment and Training Centre) and Cheylesmore Community Centre in creating local opportunities for local people.
Over the next four years we will provide two forms of training and support for local people using these Centres. We will provide a relevant and challenging Business curriculum to support the start up of local business enterprises. There will also be business and administration training for local non profit making organisations to enable them to succeed with their objectives.
This activity will also be supported by the development of a virtual learning community, using Whitley Abbey’s computer network as the hub. We aim to bring together a single, South East Learning Community for all in our part of the City.
We will also link this work to our School curriculum. Within four years adult learners will be working alongside our 14 – 19 year old students on ICT, Business and Maths courses and vocational qualifications.

Working at School at Home”
Through Studywiz we will provide all students “any time, anywhere access” to the School network from September 2007. Over time this will also become a platform for wider community partners to host learning materials. It is an exciting venture for the School and will dramatically change the way staff, students and parents view homework.
Students will be able to access: • A Homework Diary • Their individual timetable • All their own school work as if they were at school • Not only written but visual and audio material to support extended study • Revise from Podcasts
We will also be providing a range of on line courses and distance learning material through our membership of the Microsoft Academy - gained as a result of our Specialist status. | | |
