Whitley Abbey School sets the highest expectations for all who work in it. This applies equally to the adults who work here as well as the students who learn here.
As a Specialist School in Business we apply a rigorous business model to monitor key performance indicators. We also expect our students to be aware of their own performance and to be proud of praise for excellent work and not afraid to face up to the need for help.
High standards are set through all students having clear academic targets and the knowledge that their Attitude to Learning score has to be high. All students are scored every half term on a 0 – 9 scale. 9 is a measure of excellent effort with 6 marking an acceptable amount of effort. This is supported by a rigorous Behaviour for Learning Code that sets a very high standard for conduct in lessons. Misconduct carries with it a set of clear consequences that all students understand.
To reinforce the above a system of rewards exists to promote and sustain good attitudes towards learning.
